MOUNTAIN TEJEDA, ALMIJARA AND ALHAMA
The 40,600 hectares of natural park, is an impressive mountainous
mass wich forms a geographical barrier between the provinces of
Malaga and Granada. In the former province is the highest section
of the Axarquia region, while in the latter it descends to Alhama
de Granada. It is home to Tejeda and Almijara National Game Reserve.
IIn the western extreme of Sierra Tejeda, solid limestone predominates,
with the presence of same Eocene terrain made up of sandstone and
marly limestone. Sierra Almijara, the largest and most easterly,
contains dolomitic marble formations which constitude one of the
foremost examples of this type of mass in the country.
The landscape is rugged, and craggy, with large, pronounced slopes
alternanting with the characteristic rows of summits which run parallel
to the coast, marking out valleys and deep ravines. Sierra Tejeda
has the highest peak in the area, the famous La Maroma”.( 2080
metres).

with the possibility of visiting some of the most typical villages
on the county. High sightseeing and photographic interest, where
fun and adventure are assured.

The activity includes: Fully trained instructor, safety helmets,
assistance and civil responsibility insurances.

LOCATION: Axarquia county – Alhama de Granada
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: Discover and go through the little
villages of the Axarquia. Discaver, also, the beauty of the natural
park of Sierra Tejeda, Sierra Almijara and Alhama de Granada.
